Why does my mother's tandem bike have a boquet of daisies on it?
Long, Long ago there was a folk song which referred to a bicycle built for two. The lyrics went like this:
Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do
I'm half crazy all for the love of you
It won't be a stylish marriage
I can't afford a carriage
But, you'll look sweet
Upon the seat
Of a bicycle built for two.
Michael, Michael, Here is your answer true
Your half crazy if you think that will do
There won't be any marriage
if you can't afford a carriage
For I'll be switched
before I'm hitched
On a bicycle built for two.

With that in mind the daisies carried on the bikes are in memory of the "bicycle built for two" song.
Very few people know my mom's name, however many recoginize her daisies.
